New Welsh Winter Climbing Guide

As we all recover from our recent winter exploits (including seeing in New Years on Snowdon's Summit, ascending Sergeants Gully, and playing with axes in Idwal) during the recent thaw, a new guide has landed at the doorstep here at Joe's: the new Ground Up North Wales Winter Climbing Guide.

With their usual excellent layout that has become popular with both Gogarth North and North Wales Rock, this guide features great topos, superb maps and is good enough to have you dry tooling round the living room!

The guide does state, "All of the major winter cliffs featured are located within a tight geographical area" and this really involves the Llanberis Pass, Ogwen valley and the Carneddau, but in truth, there is more than a lifetimes winter climbing to go at here. The popular first-timers climbs such as Idwal Stream, The Ramp and Sergeants Gully are all shown on here, as well as those that we would love to aspire to! The topos are clear and concise and they give a brief Conditions paragraph at the start of each area.

So all that is left to do is grab a copy and start collating that tick list for the next big freeze; we'll let you know when it's here...
